Decolonizing UMaine, With generous support from the Alton '38 and Adelaide Hamm Campus Activity Fund, presents: Truth, Healing and Change in Dawnland

Barbara Kates of Maine-Wabanaki REACH will speak and lead discussion for educators and members of the University of Maine Community - This presentation is open to the general public.

Wabanaki and Maine communities collaborated on a precedent-setting project: the Maine Wabanaki-State Child Welfare Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC).

Why was the commission necessary? What can this initiative teach us?  What might be the impact on current issues in the relationship between Maine and Wabanaki people?

Maine-Wabanaki REACH, is a cross cultural organization working in support of Wabanaki self-determination. REACH initiated and supported the TRC process, and continues work on the TRC recommendations.
